I'm looking for a spindle for a new build I'm doing. It's a custom built cnc mill and I'd like to put a pretty powerful spindle on it. Prefer to keep it 110V but can do 220.
I'd like to buy a kit with a speed controller and everything I need to make it spin at predictable speeds lol.
Thanks!

Are you using an Arduino/CNC Shield for the control? I would recommend a 220VAC input AC Drive especially if your shooting for a 2 or 3 HP spindle motor. A 110V to 220V step-up transformer can be used.

A 110V to 220V step-up transformer can be used. I didn't even consider a transformer. I was going to run a 220v line if I went that route. I'm seeing a lot of 2.2kw and 1.5kw air cooled spindles with speed controllers for $3-400. That sound right? I'm trying to budget $1,000 for as much stepper motor(s) and spindle as I can get. Either NEMA 23 or 34 steppers. Not sure how much torque I'd realistically need. And the drivetrain is either going to be rack and pinion or ball screws, so I'm not too concerned about step size/degrees either. Any tips would be great! And thanks!
