Hi folks,
What kind of solutions do you run for edge finding? A mechanical edge finder is an attractive solution but the router spins a bit too fast. I found a 1/4" probe but it's a bit pricey at ~$140. Are there any other options?

For wood, it's just not that important to me. I eyeball it and use the touch probe that came with the power route for Z.
For metals it can matter. If I decide to care, I'll make one on my mill. Could probably cut an aluminum one on the MillRight machines. You could also use the metal itself as the other end of the probe...

I like to use a feeler guage or just a sticky note. When I start pinching the sticky note I know I am a paper thickness away.

I use a piece of aluminum tape for all three axis and probe it with a straight end mill. What are the commands to run a probe cycle? I forgot how to get it to drop onto the Z probe right now but is there commands to do it on X and Y?

There is a probe module in UGS but I don't know how well it works.
