My buddy asked me to make him a couple branding makers marks. He makes furniture and likes to add his mark using a branding iron. His last piece melted, so he asked me to make him a couple more from brass. It's probably the toughest thing I've made so far on the Carve King. It definitely took the longest to finish at a little over 10 hours.
(It's mirrored because the burned image will be flipped) I used 3 tools, a 3mm 3 flute end mill, a 1mm 2 flute, and a .020" 2 flute end mill. That thing was tiny. Buying a pack of 10 was a good idea, because I snapped 4 pretty quickly. A big chunk of brass and a custom GoPro mount After the first 3mm operation. Broke the first bit, not too sure why. After the 1mm operation. Everything went smoothly. Thankfully, because I only had one 1mm bit. During the .020" operation. I learned a lot doing this. If you think you're going to break an end mill, I thinks it's better to have a lot of small G code files instead of 1 massive file. That way its easier to start the operation over again after the bit breaks. Also, using an adaptive cut without rest machining seemed to work best for me. I first tried to use rest machining from previous operation, but that was hit and miss with breaking bits. And the final product:

Nice work!
That sure was a tiny little end mill.

Very impressive work. What was the final dimensions of the branding markers?
