Cut out of 1" black walnut laminated to 1/4 hard maple Roughed with 1/4" EM Pocketed maple area only with 1/8 downcut EM , 1mm into maple Finished frame and face with 1/8" tappered ball mill V carved name on frame with 60 deg 2 flute v bit Profiled with 1/8" downcut EM Finished in satin www.mountainartgifts.comAttachment Deleted

Really nice work. Great idea laminating the walnut and maple together and then mill the relief and frame.

ricko you have inspired me. I have done some work with layered wood but had not done any 3D carving. Have tried it with a Maple/Walnut piece. Turned out pretty good. Now working on some other designs.
