I thought you guys might like this. I bought an older Logan lathe a couple months ago, and it was missing a few parts. One of the parts that needed to be replaced with a threading gear, and the original replacements are around $40 used. I heard Shapeways offers metal 3D printed parts, so I decided to check that out. For $30, I was able to have them print a gear I modeled in Fusion 360.
They use a technology called Binder jetting, where they have a powder of metal, jet adhesive at it, and cook the part in an oven. This part is made with 420 stainless steel, and they add 40% brass during the oven curing process. Its been running on the lathe for around 15 hours so far and no signs of any wear or damage.

3D printing metal is pretty amazing technology. Glad it got you a workable solution at a good price.
