The instruction say to slide coupler over stepper motor shaft until it stops. My coupler slides all the way to the motor housing. Not thinking this is correct. Is there a standard spacing between coupler and motor housing?

I had the same problem. I solved this by inserting the lead screw in to the coupler first and then pushing the motor in until it met the bottom of the screw.

We've had a change on the couplers I think in terms of the center urethane piece. You ultimately want about an equal amount of lead screw and equal amount of motor shaft in the coupler.

The plastic fitting in the coupler used to be solid in the middle and you could push the lead screw into the coupler and let it stop against the fitting. But now the plastic fitting in the coupler is hollow and there is nothing to stop the lead screw in the coupler.

Thank you all for your reply. Certainly makes sense.

My coupler won't cling onto it. So it falls out, anyone have that issue??

It needs to be a good 1/4" on the shaft of both motor and lead screw. But if you assemble the whole lead screw and motor on the machine you will find the optimum spacing and then tighten the coupler on the shafts.

On this subject, all of my couplers had a space in the middle except for one. For the one with the plastic in the center, the side that is supposed to mount to the motor is too big for the spindle. The set screw tightens all the way but since it is too big it will not clamp down on the spindle.
