Some of you may have seen this already as many of you are on our social media.
We're launching a new machine called the Mega V that will be between the Carve King and the Power Route in terms of price. We're launching it under a Kickstarter campaign so we can get a large block of orders at once, make the corresponding bulk material purchases at lower costs, and therefore offer it at a lower initial price than would otherwise be possible.
The link to the information page is below. We have some videos on the page if you'd like to check them out.

There 's a lot that has happened to bring this product about. We've been testing a rack and pinion system for a good while. This machine uses that on the X and Y and it is FAST. It's repeatable and accurate too. We made a video to be released later that shows that. We also have been working a while on the concept of a more robust, oversized V wheel. This is one of the many reasons we recently added that new Haas lathe to the shop. Just the bearing by itself that goes into the V wheel is almost as large as the entire V wheel that is currently used on the Carve King and M3. See this instagram post of the new Mega V Wheel (click here). This allows for much more contact between the V wheel and the extrusion, increasing rigidity and performance. A new extrusion was needed to accommodate that larger wheel. We designed a brand new extrusion and had it made. It is huge and has a similarly huge V channel for the Mega V wheel. The extrusion is 100mmx60mm and has walls up to 8mm thick. It's more substantial than other company in this space is using, that I am aware of at least.
The machine is much more rigid than the Carve King but less rigid than the Power Route. It incorporates a lot of things that we've learned from a few years of doing this now.
One of the most common request we have is a 4th axis. This machine has it as an option accessory. As you can see in the above link, it runs the 4th pretty beautifully. We plan to make this 4th axis unit compatible with existing machines. First with the Power Route, then when the Carve King. The Mega V and Power Route use the same electronics enclosure, thereby making it easier to bring the Power Route into compatibility. The Mega V is running a forked version of Grbl and it will involve changing from an Uno to a Mega board, adding a driver, and swapping the breakout board. Compatibility for the Carve King will come after the Power Route. I have a rough plan in place for that as well.
Please spread the word on the campaign. It will be launching in the September 20th - 25th time frame most likely.
