When the table is moved to the front or rear (Y-axis) and overlaps the front or rear frame pieces, how much clearance is there between the underside of the table, and the top of the frame pieces?

As mine is in Florida, I don't know the exact measurement. From experience, I can tell you however, you have to be careful with the clamp screws so they don't extend too far below the t nuts. They'll hit the frame and may cause you to curse.

It's pretty tight: just under 5 mm. In fact, it is tight enough that there are a couple of notches to allow clearance for the screw heads for the V-roller brackets.
And I agree with dadof4's comment about being careful about the length of clamping screws used. For that reason, and general convenience, I use the blue tape/CA glue clamping method whenever I can.

I also use the blue tape/CA glue clamping method with my M3. It is working really well for me.
