Hello all!
I have had my CK sitting, in it's box, on a shelf, for over 2 years. A lot has happened since purchasing this, but the desire to create and build to my hearts content has not changed.
So now we begin! This will be a build thread for quite possibly one of the oldest kits out there! This was a pre-order before the CK even came out. I received it in late 2017!! So I am super excited!
As this was stored in a closet, and on the shelf, it has never been touched. It was never even opened when received haha! Unpacking revealed that it appears everything it there and looking good! I had one work-material clamp appear to be broken, but really seems like it. The homing switch baggie was also popped, so it's components were strewn about. Other than that, everything was packed up super tight and very safe!!
I am looking to order a couple more 625 bearings, as i had a couple that were missing the bearing 'cover' (blank thingie over the bearings). But i do not know if those are 625 Z or rs2 bearings. Waiting to order till i get that.
I also found that my bolts for the spindle mount do not reach through the mount and plate. They do measure 65mm, but the overall distance from the plate to the front of the mount is 59.1mm. Taking into account the head of the bolt is 5.8mm from my 65, that brings me down to ~59mm. So I might need to go and get some longer bolts.
I need to look up how to post pictures, and will toss up some pics as I go along.
Really looking forward to this and can't wait!
I remember there being a Millright text file to 'test' after build is completed and tested for major issues. Anyone know where I might find this file? I'll be digging around and playing with simple things before i get into anything too crazy.
Thanks everyone!

It's hard to say after a couple years. We've fought different errors and made personnel corrections over said errors along the way. I have seen this happen before because the M3 kit and the Carve King use two different sizes for the bolts. Hit up the support email please and lets work it out. It is millrightcnc@support.com

Hmm, maybe I am doing something wrong here guys. Trying to attach images.
1. Trying to attach images directly to the forum via 'add attachments' results in files too big. I'm not keen on spending hours resizing (by saving) the file in a program then uploading here - as I did with the ones above.
2. 'linking' the image via a url in an image tag results in the 'i can't parse this image' symbol - i did this from, dropbox, google drive, google photos, and from an ftp with the same errors. I did not try imgur, as i do not have an account.
Will have to look more into this later tonight.

I am not sure about number 2, but I can tell you that there is a couple MB limit on direct attachment.

I use imgur.com with the Direct Link copied into the "insert image" button. It should work with other cloud services.

All right guys, finally getting this going with a bit more momentum! I have lost the video of the opening ceremony - the wife was making fun of me cause she thought there was a heavy blow up doll I never used in this box... She wasn't far from wrong . Getting everything laid out and starting an inventory Fun time with a hammer - although I did end up using a deep well socket on top and shallow socket on bottom to get the bearings seated If it were all this easy Breaking out some other small tools, starting to get interesting the twisty thingy fits in the block thing on the triangle thingy!! It's gettin real! Something - and idk what - is coming of this!!

A few more delays haha! We have sorted out the Spindle Mount Bolt issue and now appear to have found some spacers that were in the box long enough to continue to grow a bit and stretch beyond their expected length. More to come as it allows!! Couple of pics for fun .

We are on the right path Ladies and Gelly Spoons! MillRight and crew are amazing!! It seems they are as dedicated as I am to make this Carve King make some chips!! These guys/gals/machinists/chip-makers are one awesome bunch of people and I could not be more happy to work with them, as I figure this out!
BTW: Got a HUGE Craftsman Shop Vac from Facebook Marketplace. First time on there, worked pretty nicely.
It's a 16 Gallon, 5 HP behemoth. I need to get a filter for it, but that is it. I will be looking to find some extension hoses for it (maybe step down the hose size from a 3+ Diameter to a 2 inch (I have no idea on technical sizing, need to look that up too haha- no better time to learn than right now) to make it a bit easier to attach to the spindle - which I'll need to figure out how to make a mount for it as well haha!
I did notice it is quite loud, which is to be expected, but this CK and vac are set up inside a room. So I might look into some way of quieting it down- maybe a housing, external hose to get air, or some other way to muffle it.
More to come before this build is over!
BTW: if I use the incorrect terminology on something, feel free to correct me. I can't fix it if I don't know it is broke and ignorance is where we all start.

I recently finished building an enclosure for my old 16 gal Craftsman shop vac. It was a screamer - 94 db. I built a cabinet and lined it with 2" foam. I added a Dust Deputy outside the cabinet to separate and collect chips and fines. It does and awesome job. Best of all, I now get a noise level of 74 db. Needless to say I am extremely pleased with. How is project turned out.

What was your solution?

The motor cooling for most shop vacs is accomplished through the intake (suction) side of the vac so no make-up air opening is needed. I made a baffled exhaust for the cabinet. I found a couple of examples of this on YouTube and designed a cabinet to fit my equipment. If it would be helpful, I'll try to take a couple of pictures tomorrow and post them here for you.

Ed Ed, Pics would be awesome! And since you gave me your thoughts in the build (and some knowledge on the operation of the vac) that makes it even easier to look into this and start planning it out! Thank you!
