Did some snooping on Youtube and found a video on Xpadder. Looks like you map the keyboard to xbox control with this. But I didn't spend a lot of time researching so I could be wrong.

Xpadder website: www.xpadder.com/ Xpadder is 9.99 USD, a single payment for Xpadder includes all future versions. if I had an Xbox controller I'd give this a try. This looks pretty slick.

Are there any written instructions on setting up the Xbox controller since the video was taken down?
Does this method use the the 1st gen Xbox controller?
Thanks for any info.

crbalch, if you're in need of help still, I can probably help as I'm a using a knock-off Xbox 360 controller (very recently purchased from Amazon) connected to my Raspberry Pi and have had no issues with UGS and the Joystick/controller functionality. I literally did nothing but plug the USB dongle into my Pi and then open UGS and turn on the Joystick option. From there it's just a matter of changing button/key assignments should one choose to. I actually liked the default button assignments and only had to add a Homing button assignment.
