I have my main computer and a laptop. Moving my main PC to the basement is not really an option. I am looking at a low price like acer laptop to use to run my CNC. What is kind of laptop should I be looking at to run my CNC will Windows 10 work. Also is something like a Chromebook a option. I really only need to run the code with it. I will do my modeling and other stuff on my PC.

The program you need to run when connected to the CNC is a g-code sender such as the recommended UGS Platform. It will run on Windows, MacOS or Linux. I am currently using a really old laptop running Ubuntu Linux, so you don't need a very powerful computer. I don't think UGS runs on Android OS so a chromebook probably won't work---someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Doesn't take much. I am running Windows 10 on a 9 year old Dell laptop. i3 processer with 4GB of ram. Not fast booting up but once it is up the UGS works fine.

Some are also using a Raspberry Pi to run the G-code control. So the requirements aren't great.

Some excellent info there. Some of it is a bit over my head, however.
Have you looked at Chilipeppr? It might just run on your chrome book since it is web based.

Thanks Bruce,
I may want to try this after a few months, after I get my machine up and running. My newest laptop is at least 6 years old and I bought it used... It's definitely would run faster and be lighter to carry around. It's been so hot now, I hate to leave the laptop in my shop (97 degrees yesterday). I need a better cooling solution, besides running two fans in shop.
