What kind of wood did you use for the preach vcarve? I have tried pine, poplar, 1/4" plywood and pvc.....all of them tear out. My best one was done on mdf, but of course its not real wood with a grain that stains well.

JMS I get common board from the orange box store. I go through and select the boards that look the cleanest. I think it is pine. I tried using a 30 degree bit and chunks would rip out. But the 60 degree works well.

OK, I am surprised the pine came out so well, I too used a 60 deg bit with allot of tear out. At least photo vcarve is fast and not much time is wasted if it goes bad, plus.....more firewood.
