I've been looking around at CNC routers recently and these two caught my eye: the Power Route and Mega V (w/t-plate).
I'm not entirely clear on the benefits of one vs the other.
1. Obviously the workareas/footprints are different between the two. Are the router mounts high enough that the posted z-travel is applicable with the included bits? i.e. could I cut a 4.9" tall piece of material in the Power Route?
2. I see that the (included) routers are of different powers between these two models and the mounts + endplates seem to be a bit beefier on the PR - so I'd assume it to be stiffer and have a little less deflection / better repeatability..?
2. Are there any other substantial differences I'm overlooking?

The Power Route came around first. It's been out for about 1.5 years now (somebody correct me if I'm wrong on that). It has precision ball screws and supported stainless steel bearing shafts on all three axis. Power Route has NEMA 23 stepper motors and drivers, the same as the Mega V. The Mega V has the rack and pinion drive with custom bearing rollers and custom slotted aluminum extrusion rails. The Mega V comes in a bed size 19"x19"x3.75" and 35"x35"x3.75. The Power Route has a bed size of 25”×25”×5” and there is a Power Route XL with a bed size of 49.5”×49.5”×5” 1. The Z height includes the endmill so you could cut a 4.9" piece of material. 2. The PR would be considered more rigid and have a little better accuracy and repeatability with the ball screws and linear bearing shafts. 3. The Mega V is considered to fit in the MillRight product line between the Carve King and the Rower Route. The only other difference is the 4th axis option on the Mega V which I don't think it is available on the Power Route...yet.

Bruce nailed it pretty well. The Power Route has been out about over 2 years though... minor detail though, lol.
