can anyone help me program my new boards for my carve king? I had to buy some online and I don't have the originals. I flashed grbl to the board and can get the machine to function but I cant get the homing switches to operate. all I get is an alarm or hard trigger alarm. I've read that it comes with factory settings and the cnc shield is already set up with jumpers etc. I can't find any of the information on how to set these boards up that's step by step. Can anyone give me a hand please? all the wiring is connected per instructions. I've double checked my double checking.

So I flash it with the xloader ( I have windows 10) do I need to reset the board first or do I leave grbl on there then flash the hex file? That’s where I am getting mixed up I believe.

Also does there need to be a jumper in place on the cnc shield for the switches to work?

I did that, I checked all the wires. It just says that Homing is not enabled. I follow the instructions and put the enable code in. It says ok. I use the set up wizard everything is good until the get to homing. Then I get messages about the soft and hard limits have not been by set. Or that it’s not supported. So I assumed I needed to download some kind of firmware for them to work.

You don't need any jumpers to enable homing. If you flash the hex, you will overwrite your old grbl installation, so don't worry about that. Once you have done so, post your grbl settings here. Type $$ into the console and copy paste the output.

It’s all good now. Thanks everyone, I needed the hex.file for the right configuration. I flashed it using the xloader and it runs as it should.
