Sorting out damage from power supply failure

I have the M3, it's been working fine for a year or so.  Last time, plugging it in there was a faint pop and the power supply no longer showed a green light, the fan would no longer run but I was able to connect with usb and ugs.  I replaced the power supply, now the fan works but I'm unable to connect by USB.  There is a green light on the arduino when plugged in.

Please let me know any suggested troubleshooting steps to determine which electronics are damaged, or if there is anything else I should try.

I'm guessing there is no holding torque on the motors when power is applied. (Should not be able to move the axis)
Probably looking at a new CNC Shield and stepper drivers, maybe a new Uno board.
