Update: here are a few things from practice sessions in Fusion - did the first guitar rout design for a Floyd Rose tremolo inset . . yay!

I was going to ask you about ArtCAM - now I don't have too. Thanks for the info.

I was going to ask you about ArtCAM - now I don't have too. Thanks for the info. Well I may be eating my words. Now that I've been a little deeper into ArtCam, it may have my money after a year. I still don't like being limited to raster toolpaths, but doing simple 3D stuff is easier. For example, I had to add a 5 degree draft angle so cutter shaft wasn't colliding. That's a pain in 360 if not done in the form function. Super easy in ArtCam. Bottom line, I didn't give ArtCam enough credit. I'm so used to designing in Fusion both 2D sketches to 3D in the form environment that I didn't value ArtCam for what it is. It needs some work for sure. Like an easy way to see dimensions, better grouping of tools, and definitely cut paths.

Aspire is more user friendly than Fusion. However, for the price I'll stick with the steep learning curve of Fusion. I've noticed now that I purchased ArtCam, it's not as feature packed as fusion either. Again, more user friendly but I don't like it for anything other than converting depth maps and grayscale 3D images. Don't think those are worth $180 a year lol. Finally modeled a good enough version of a Telecaster to move on to the CAM section - I have no idea where to start - but at least this is progress. Took me a month and a half to learn how to do this in Fusion - I can make an entire guitar by hand in less time . . .lol . . . Attachment DeletedUPDATE: Spent many hours last night working on the CAM programming for this . . . have all the pockets - now working on the outside bevel and edge. For those with a Fusion setup you can watch the screencast here: autode.sk/2uzd1sF

Awesome! Very good looking work. Makes me want to build a guitar.

Very good work. Make sure your bed or spoil board is dead flat. As I'm sure you're aware, having the pick-up or neck mounted cattywompus will throw the sound off.

Awesome! Very good looking work. Makes me want to build a guitar. All my simulations look good - but I apparently have the axis off - the y is where the z should be . . . every post processing attempt fails.

This video will help ya get going on the CAM orientation:

Yes thanks very much - watched the video, adjusted the orientation and now have the g-code - now I just have to make sure the stock is centered correctly . . .

Sweet looking but definitely not for me. I prefer a solid body, wood guitar lol.
