Ok, I have the carve king that was made from the black "plastic" frame, and I have the new one made from the aluminum frame. I did not have this problem on the first carve king. But as you can see from the pictures it appears that it is missing steps. I am assuming on the x axis since the steps are on the right side. It was a profile tool path. On my first machine it did not matter what type of wood I was cutting, but this new one does not seem to handle hardwood very well.
Could it be a bad backlash nut?
I have messed up now 4 pieces of walnut in the process.
Cannot upload pictures, error says that the forum has exceeded its limit.
Will be happy to send pictures if you need those to help figure it out.

I would think that if the anti-backlash nut were binding to the extent it's causing missed steps that it would have been difficult to thread the screw through it during the build. If that were the case, it might be the culprit. I personally suspect a slipping coupler. I'd recommend re-tightening all the coupler set screws to see if that eliminates the missed steps.
