Hi: I have a carve king 2 running a grbl controller, I created a program with millwrite and everytime my machine encounters a rapid z + move the spindle stops, the machine rapid positions, the spindle restarts and the z feeds to depth and moves, then when it gets another z+ rapid move the spindle stops again. HELP I have run alot of cnc machines and the code looks correct so I'm thinking it may be a controller setup issue? The millwrite guy Eric doesn't have any idea why this may be happening

Hmm... assuming the gcode is valid and the machine is configured correctly, it sounds like an EMI noise problem. It can occur when the signals from one wire or motor interfere with the signals in another wire. Try separating the cables going to the spindle and the z motor as much as you can. And if possible plug the spindle into a different circuit than the controller and ground your machine.

Could it be the grbl setup? Do you by chance have a program that works correctly you would share so I could give it a try?

I found my grbl controler was set to laser mode, I turned parameter 32 to 0 then it worked perfect, thanks
