From novelty do dads to practical parts. hmmm...rather make some money - as soon as I can figure out how that thing can do that for ME, then I'll break down. Still fighting with getting a laser primarily because I am not sure how to incorporate it into my engraving business to make money. I offer Rotary engraving, diamond drag engraving, sandblast engraving, and hand engraving (gun stocks and such) and just don't see how a laser would help me since I can accomplish 99% of the things I do with the equipment I have. Now add the Carve King which will allow me to engrave into wood and plastics which further reduces any need for a laser in my mind. I'm afraid I will probably reach the same conclusion with 3d printers. Altho they can make cool things I need them to make cool cash. Same with the laser - would love to have one but I don't need expensive paperweights that can't pull their own weight in the shop. Good Luck with the sales of these printers Derek. If I had time to play, I'd most certainly experiment with one for fun - but not today! |

Gotcha. Well I won't twist your arm. LOL. 3D printing is pretty wide spread and has a lot of applications. I agree that it's not really a fit for your engraving business, however.

ALTHO, to fix my lack of a laser problem - you know the one I don't need, I was/am considering a little m3 with the laser option. -10238 I have been debating a K40 laser with a lightobjects upgrade kit for a little while now, I have been debating if the jtech diode for the M3 is enough to satisfy that craving but the jury is still out. A 3D printer has been on that wish list for a little while also  I have a maker space down the street from where I work I go to sometimes to mess with the 3D printer there when I have an idea but sometimes it is a long wait to get time on it, they have an epilog laser there also but the wait time is sometimes even longer for that. Also I would love to pick your brain sometime on the engraving business you run. @derek thanks offering the 3D printer option, I will more then likely be picking one up from you in the next couple of months after I get through some of my side gigs and have enough spare cash. |

I have a flashforge 3d printer , the customer service is beyond awesome. its good to see two companies ( derek and FF) that offer probably some of the best customer services team up
also to piggyback on what would you use it for . Geez I have a list of things I made and its super handy and face it this is the future .

Kec, whatever you really want. A friend of mine made new shelf clips for his fridge that broke and were $25 a piece through whirlpool. People make ABS parts for various machinery with them. Your imagination is the limit. The flashorge Pro is just freaking awesome because it's a dual extruder. You can print one part, in one run that uses two different types of material. So let's say you wanted rubber feet for your CNC machine. You model em up, print the soft foot part in NinjaFlex (soft but very strong filament) then in the same operation it prints the hard base of the foot with the hole and threads ready for a mounting stud. Want a custom dust shoe or your cnc that isn't possible to mill? Print it. Want to make a bushing a very specific but oddball size, print it.
Can you tell I freaking love these machines? lol.

I have a maker space down the street from where I work I go to sometimes to mess with the 3D printer there when I have an idea but sometimes it is a long wait to get time on it, they have an epilog laser there also but the wait time is sometimes even longer for that.
