Well, I just pulled the trigger on Mega V XL. I researched for a couple of months looking for the best machine. The Mega V specs are well beyond any other machine in it's price range. I bought a cheap Chinese 1610 last year and made a few boxes and signs using Easel. It was time to upgrade. I am now in waiting mode.

I took the same path with a 3018. It's like getting the 1st on free from the guy on the corner!

Hi all. I finally bit the bullet and ordered my first CNC! After a month of researching, I ran across this machine in an add and am so glad I did. After watching videos and doing some company profile research I ordered the Mega V XL. I am so excited and cannot wait to get started with this machine.

Greetings all. I just ordered a Carve King this past Monday and I'm stoked. I'm a music producer/composer and have recently designed my own line of recording gear. I've been ordering custom metalwork but have since developed the CNC fever. I was a member of MakeHaven in Connecticut but now I'm back in LA and putting together my own setup. I'm a total CNC novice but both eager and obsessive by nature. I already have an Autodesk subscription as I do all of my circuits in Eagle (I love it) and have dabbled in Fusion but not really into it. I'm flirting with Cut2D and it seems to be more of my style. We shall see. Looking forward to this!

So my name is Jay. I am the Industrial Arts & Technology instructor at Auburn Adventist Academy, a high school boarding academy in Washington. We purchased the MillRight Mega V XL recently so I can teach students a bit more modern method of woodworking (hence the 21st century). I am a beginner at the CNC not to mention the Autodesk Fusion 360. I'm pretty jazzed on learning a new thing and look forward to getting our students jazzed over it as well. I do have questions on trying to just get started though. I noticed in the Quick Start Guide on page 6 of 9 that it offers a very basic engraving file using this g code file that I could download and save a copy. When I clicked on it and even tried to copy the link, it doesn't bring it up as a file but instead as a web page millrightcnc.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/MillRight-CNC-Name-Engrave.txt with a lot of data. It doesn't appear that I can save it as a file like suggested in the Quick Start Guide. How does this get saved as a file on my computer so I can open it through the UGS? Looking forward to doing a lot with this machine. Jay

It's good to see your Industrial Arts program is keeping up with the latest trends in woodworking by incorporating CNC machines into the curriculum. I can't think of a better way to get and keep the student's attention. As far as the test file, when you go to the link, "select all" and copy the contents of the page and then save it to your hard drive. You can then open UGS and open the file from the location you saved it in. The visualizer on UGS should confirm it is recognizing the g-code in the file. Hope this helps and keep us posted on your progress and how your students are progressing.

Then load it into UGS or other G-code sender connected to the CNC control.

I will certainly keeping current posts as we progress. For now, I'm just learning it but hopefully I can get students going on this by next semester, and hopefully we can be free of all this COVID stuff by then. We can really impact the students with this technology. Very respectfully, Jay

Well, after reading through many posts, e-mailing back and forth with Customer Service Reps, and getting a question answered here, joining the FB community, I have finally taken the plunge and placed an order for the Carve King Kit Bundle with homing switches. I have also ordered the 1/8 collet and a few end mills for the 1/8 collet and also the 1/4" ball nosed collet. I am mostly interested in the CNC for signs or adding embellishments to cutting boards etc, but I have seen some great projects and potential for some other things.
I think I have a lot more reading to do, videos to watch, and some programs to downlaod and fool around with on my computer. I am really looking forward to getting started and adding to this awesome community.
Gari from Canada!!
