I'm starting small. I plan to re-run this with some purpleheart, but just made it out of a scrap of pine initially. The joint between the cross bar and the side supports is so very nice & snug And here it is, holding up my "manager edition" MacBook:

Looks good. Makes me want to build one.
Side note, I bet a niche market exists for stands like this made in nice woods.

Great project. I'm actually designing one at the moment. Anything I should watch out for?

The version I ran in Black Limbe for my work setup (It matches my keyboard ) involves a modification to the little "hooks" on the front to prevent the laptop from sliding a bit: They were a little too sharp making it catch the screen of the laptop thus making it hard to open. I shortened and rounded them. Besides that, just make sure that it's sized right for the device you want to rest on it, and that it's up as high as you want it. Good luck! -Kev
