This may have already been posted but I just learned that some people are using this $60 USB shuttle controller as a pendant for UGS Platform. USB Shuttle Controller Link

Big Man, thanks for the info. Can you point me to a posting about the pendant. I’ve searched the forum, but can’t find anything similar. Thank you

The only other pendant control that I've seen here is the Xbox game controller that was posted a long time ago. Xbox controller with UGSbCNC has a web interface you can use on a phone or tablet that works well, but is only in bCNC.

Thanks for sharing Big Man, I have been focused on finding a controller to make panning, zooming, orbiting, etc. easier when cad designing. And this looks like it may be a good option for that too. More affordable than the $100+ gaming mice and spacenavigator 3d mice that I've seen.
I usually just use the keyboard and mouse to jog my CK, but it would be nice to have a controller too.

Big Man, thanks for the info. Can you point me to a posting about the pendant. I’ve searched the forum, but can’t find anything similar. Thank you I'm not sure what info you're asking for. Here's a link to Amazon where you can purchase the Shuttle Xpress ShuttleXpress on Amazon
If you're basically asking what a pendant is, it's just the name for a small USB or wireless controller for a G code sender app's most used functions. (Basically so you don't have to keep using a full sized keyboard and looking at a monitor.) If you meant something else, please elaborate and I or someone will have your answer.

I suppose the question is how would one go about interfacing this with UGS software? Or any other software for that matter. Thanks for posting that video James. That does look interesting for a machine jog controller.

That does look interesting for a machine jog controller. Any research of existing solution let me know, otherwise I may take a shot at coding it in... I've already ordered the shuttle, and will get it tomorrow. This should be a fun thing to add. (I've messed with DirectInput in the past, so this shouldn't be too much different)

Ok I've been trying this out... It's not what I thought it was. The driver that comes with it allows it to inject itself into other applications auto magically... My guess is it probably uses the same kind of remote methods like VNC. You have to download the drivers and out of the box it has default setting per popular application... (e.g. solidworks, VLC, Autodesk, windows media player etc.) When it runs, it is aware of what window has focus and will use the settings for whatever app that matches its database. I haven't tried UGS yet but I can see how it would work... if it can be achieved by a key press then it can be mapped to this controller. It does not register as a direct input like I thought it would. So now its just a matter of finding someone who has saved settings for UGS, or making my own. This is really cool to have for other applications.

I see on the website it has a lot of video and music editing software listed that is preloaded with default settings.

I tried testing with the shuttle express today and tried using the latest version of UGS. They now have a pendant icon, and it looks like a hand holding a phone. I click on it and it shows a dialog window with a scan code with a local link. I haven't had a chance to research this yet, and I'm not sure if they are related. I'll see if I can make sense of this and post back.

I was just searching for a pendant for UGS and I found several posts about coding for CNC pendants and Grbl that might help you. Just do a search for "cnc grbl pendant" Good luck and please report back with your progress! This GitHub post specifically mentions that it's a java plugin for UGS and the Shuttle Xpress. Might not be what you need but if you're anything like me, sometimes breakthroughs come from the most unlikely places! GitHub Shuttle Xpress Jogging plugin
This looks interesting also
And this might help you

Thanks Patrick, the second link looks like a configuration for use with bCNC! I might have to give this a try too.

I've been using the UGS pendant that Jamesterm mentioned a few posts above. I love it. Clicking on the UGS pendant icon brings up a QR code on the computer screen. When I point my iPhone camera at the code, the phone opens a pendant screen that connects to UGS and has variable (though very slow) jog steps. Using it, I set Z=0 by getting within 1 mm using my computer keyboard and then zero in, using 0.1mm steps, with my iPhone screen. I find this very useful since my computer only fits on the left side of my Carve King and I'm decidedly right handed.
