In my usual search to find the cheapest way to do something, I decided to try these V-groove bits from Amazon: www.amazon.com/Bestgle-Engraving-Chamfer-Grooving-Woodworking/dp/B07JDNSJHP/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1544116507&sr=8-3&keywords=v+groove+router+bit+setOnly $15 for the set--how could I go wrong? Well, I wasn't paying attention and it turns out the shanks are 6mm instead of 1/4" (6.35mm) and the DeWalt 611 collet will not close down far enough to grab them. A bit of searching shows that others have noticed the same thing with 6mm bits on the DeWalt. So I wrapped a bit of paper around the shank of the smaller 60° bit and did a test run--it seemed to work pretty well. Now I have an order in to elairecorp.com for a 6mm collet along with a 1/8" while I'm at it. So much for being cheap.

The collets from Elaire are top notch. You won't regret the investment.

I second the Elaire recommendation. They're excellent. I *may* have purchased them for the same reason
