Hi All, Due to multiple posts about spindles on this forum I wanted to show my setup. It’s 1.5Kw air cooler spindle, driven by VFD running off of 230VAC single phase. Check out the photos and let me know if you have any questions. m.imgur.com/gallery/AB6WbZs

I’m in the process of getting mine up and running as well. I opted for the 2.2kw air cooled spindle but apart from that, it sounds like an identical setup. I am brand new to CNC so I’ve been reading all that I can about builds, etc. My plan was to eventually run VCarve and slowly build competence in Fusion 360. Could you tell me how you dealt with hardware/software to control spindle speeds? I understand the spindle to VFD connection and the VFD to 220V power wiring but what did you do with respect to VFD to computer connection? A USB spindle controller perhaps?
Many thanks!

The VFD can be controlled by the CNC Shield with a 0-5vdc to 4-20mA signal converter and a 5v relay. I'll have to dig up my wiring diagram and post it here.

Here is a drawing I put together of the way I wired my VFD. Your requirements may be different depending on the speed control device being used and options available on that device.
