I have the M3 and really love it. I'm thinking of jumping to the Power Route but I was wonder if it has the ability to travel in the Y axis beyond the bed so that you could mount stock vertically? For example, doing CNC dovetails into the end grain of a board that is clamped to the front of the bed. Picture from another website: www.woodworkingtalk.com/f5/dovetail-jigs-24/index3/

Hey Wizzeler. Glad you like your M3. The center of the router (so center of the cutter) can extend the table by 3/4". We even include a sticker to place on the machine cautioning about the cutter extending beyond the table for this reason. If you needed to dovetail a larger piece, say a 1" thick board you could add a 1/4" or 3/8" spacer block behind the router mount.

Just found this on Youtube the other day. I'm sure Derek has words of wisdom on the practicality and limitations of doing something like this.

That video has a lot of stickout, you will get deflection with that much hanging out. If you keep feed speed and cut depth low, it will work and have some accuracy. But if you need it, it might be the only choice. If you are building a spacer like that, keep it as short as practical. The lever arm will amplify the force on the gantry, causing more deflection.
For the Power Route, I wonder if you could leave one plank offset a few inches toward the back. That would leave a spot you could hang something under it, assuming the table has space for it.

The video linked is definitely too extreme. What T suggested will work as well.

Thanks to everyone for the information. I was hoping for more like 2" overhang - so adding a 1-1/4" spacer sounds like a good plan to me. Still deciding to pull the trigger on the Power Route, but this is helpful for me.

Haha. I saw that posted on another forum first and just thought it was a joke at first, but I have to say the guy built it pretty well, insomuch as those kind of crazy things can be.
