Hey Guys,
My Z axis homing switch has stopped working. I'm using a router, not a laser. I don't have much experience with the machine. It's a CarveKing.
I've tested the actual switch and wires with a multimeter, they work fine. I've activated Verbose mode in UGS and it UGS cannot see any change when I press the switch manually.
I have a few theories and questions: 1- My board is messed up. Is there any way to test this? And if I discover that it's broken, how do I get a new one? 2- Too much resistance in the wires. How much should I expect between the board and coming back? I know I have continuity through the switch when it's depressed. Also, how much voltage should I expect out of the board? 3- The software is set up incorrectly. I'm not sure how this could have happened. Default settings worked fine in the past.
I've been digging through the forums and I tried to answer all the questions people ask beforehand. If there's something I missed feel free to ask. Also, like I said I don't have much experience so if I'm missing something let me know please! Thanks everyone!

Did you check continuity at the end of the wires that connect to the CNC Shield? Disconnect it from the board and check it there if you haven't already. That would rule out bad connections at both ends of the switch.

Yeah I unplugged it from the board and checked both wires. They seem fine.

Make sure the wires of the capacitor are also good and not cracked & separated. Make sure the wires are plugged into the CNC Shield connector pins. May have gotten pulled loose. Then check the continuity of the switch at the end of those wires too.

Plug the Z into SpEn a few places down on the board to check that. 10 or 12 months ago, which is around the time of your order I think, we had someone flash boards with laser files instead of the standard file. All that does is enable pwm on the pin labeled Z and move Z switch functionality to SpEn.

Swapping to SpnEn did the trick! I must have had it right before I moved it. Thanks for you help!
