I’m getting and ALERT9 pop up window and homing is all messed. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong? Thanks! Also it says something about that the GRBL needs to be in idle but can not find anything about that either.

Remove power from the CNC shield board, disconnect the USB cable and close and restart UGS. Plug the USB back in, connect power back to the CNC shield board and try connecting in UGS again. If that doesn't work, try rebooting your computer.

I seem to remember that is related to the system not being ready. I think UGS may be interpreting this as the case if the drivers aren’t loaded. Has it connected previously? If not you may need to manually load the drivers. Also, what do you see for the device in device manager?

Yes it has been connected previously. My problem now is that the y axis is not even moving when I tell it too. I put in the new stepper drive in the A slot of the shield since I knew that driver was messed up but it didn’t change a thing. All the wire are in the exact spot as they should be and are well connected. It worked the first time I connected it to the UGS but then I had to switch the x axis motor because it was moving in the opposite direction and since then the y axis hasn’t even moved. I can hear the y axis motors trying to run but nothing is turning. I have no clue where to find the device in the device manager. Is it on the UGS software window? I’m using dev/tty.... for the port, GRBL for the firmware. Ummm Universal Goode Platform 2.0. Any of those the device? I just feel like there’s something major wrong. When I reboot the UGS the alert goes away and all motors work except the y axis motors, and in the command box it says ok when y -or + is clicked. That’s all I need fixed now I think. I spent 2weeks at about 3 hours a day assembling this and it’s hard to let this machine sit here knowing I can’t do anything about it since I’m totally stuck. Also, when we get the y axis motors working I need help on what to do next. Thanks for your help! I can’t continue without y’all! .

Also I can’t find the settings where I need to enter 70 for the max amount of characters. Looks like I have a more updated UGS than the instructions or videos because those drop downs aren’t even on my UGS software. Thanks!

Don’t worry about the 70 length. The newer version takes care of it. You have blown drivers. Send an email to support about this thread aayibg I said you had one or more blown drivers.
As far as what to do next: Start watching vids on CAD and CAM. That will be how you make all your designs and cutting files.
