I'm finally going to try my hand at some v-carving and was wondering what would be a good first, general purpose to buy?
Thoughts?

I've got the Whiteside 60 deg 1/4" bit and it seems to work well for me. I also bought the 90 deg bit but haven't used it yet.

I got the same; Whiteside 60 deg 1/4" bit and a 90 deg also.
These two bits have done everything I've needed for the most part. I just bought a 20 deg 1/8" shaft for finer detail work. Looks like laser cut detail results.

I've been using a 60° bit the most, but a 30° with 1/8" shank worked well for smaller stuff. I'll have to try a 20°. Where did you get that?

I broke down and bought the Amana 8 bit starter set - a little pricey but great quality. Just ordered the whiteside spoilboard bit from amazon. I ordered the Amana set from Tools Today - got 10% off for the first order.
