what is the best kind of wood for 2D cuts that doesn’t put strain on the Carve King? I’m limited to Home Depot and Lowe’s. Preferably 3/4” thickness. I love how birch looks and feels but I see that it has multiple layers that builds up the thickness. Will that be a problem when cutting and will it splinter at all? I also like the common board from pine. Thanks y’all!

I have not used any Baltic birch plywood as thick as what you are looking at but here is some work I did with 1/8th thick that was done in layers. Using an downcut bit there wasn't a great deal of cleanup to do. Tear out would probably depend on the level of detail and type of bits you are using. I don't think any wood will put a "strain" on the Carve King as long as you use appropriate cut depths, feed rates and bits. There are people doing aluminum on the King after all. millrightcnc.proboards.com/thread/1311/3d-ornament-2d-software

Another source I use for hardwoods from time to time. Good quality and much cheaper than some sources such as Woodcraft. ocoochhardwoods.com/
