I finally got around to installing the laser for my Carve King. I am able to see that my machine and UGS recognizes the laser. I can turn it on,off, and control the intensity of the laser. I used Inkscape to create the gcode with the Jtech plugin. When I upload the file onto UGS I am not able to visualize the file that I created. I attempted to press send and received an error message stating, "Error while starting file stream: null." I went to see what my gcode looks like and it looks fine to me (attached below is the file for verification). I've used UGS to carve wood from files that I created with Aspire and haven't had any problems. If anyone can steer me in the right direction I would highly appreciate it. Thank you, Zavior WellDone.Gcode.txt (2.33 KB)

Sounds like something flaky with the USB/serial cable or the connection between the Arduino and PC. Or check the jumper pins on the CNC Shield make sure something didn't get bumped. Can you jog the motors?

I am able to jog the motors. I downloaded a post processor from Jtech and create laser gcode using Vectric Aspire by creating a laser tool. Through this method I was finally able to successfully use the laser. For some reason I can't visualize or send the files in UGS that are created from Inkscape using the Jtech plugin. Although I figured out a work around, I'm stumped why I can't get UGS to work with Inkscape 🤔

That's a hard one to figure out. I wonder if it is writing something in the header or footer that UGS is rejecting, such as an M2 instead of the more conventional M30. (doubt that's it, just an example)

I use lasergrbl (free) on all my laser operations.
