After watching the video on youtube I attempted to set up my first work coordinate (G54) but was not successful. Here are the steps that I took:
Ran the homing cycle ($H).
Jogged my machine to where I want G54 to be.
Entered G10 L20 P1 X0 Y0 Z0 in the command line.
Then I jogged the router to a random location and then entered G54 into the command line to see if it worked but nothing happened.
I have a clamping system setup to run similar work off and this would save a lot of time.
Any ideas what went wrong?

G54 just selects a work coordinate system. The default system is G54, so selecting it won't change anything. You did, however, set up the origin for your G54 coordinate system with the G10 command.

Okay. So what command would I enter to move my router to that work coordinate? I thought if I entered G54 it would move the router to that location but nothing happened for me.

Is there any reason that people are not using the Common Actions window in UGS for homing and zeroing? Manually typing in command strings is tedious--I'd rather just push a button for things I need to do all the time. So I use the buttons in Common Actions: "Home Machine" and "Return to Zero" all the time, and also "Reset Zero" in conjunction with the buttons in the Jog Controller to set the zero. I can't remember the last time I manually typed in a code in the command line--just sayin'.

Once you've set your zero point you can also type G0 X0 Y0 to return to that XY position.

I'm new to this whole CNC thing. Now I understand the concept of the WCS. I thought by pressing G54, G55, etc would bring me back to the set home position. Home to zero brings me back to that coordinate. Believe me, I prefer pressing buttons then entering commands. Thanks for helping me make sense of this.
