For anyone (including myself) who finds the Mega V assembly videos less than fully satisfactory, I've done a frame grab of the printed material that Derek has inserted in the videos before he demonstrates many of the assembly steps. I've copied them into a Word document along with time stamps that relate to the videos. You might find it helpful. MEGA V ASSEMBLY.docx (1.75 MB)

This is the way I understood the Kickstarter. I'm already planning on using the CNC to pocket holes in the aluminum and attaching sacrificial MDF No need to pocket the aluminum though.... just fasten the sacrificial MDF into the T slots. .... maybe you meant pocketing the MDF though. Derek can you clarify what you mean? I had intended to attach the mdf to the table using t-nuts in the top of the MDF through to fasteners below the T-plate, having a strip between each T-slot. I don't understand what you are suggesting.

Thanks hans.
ICTDesign: I think I initially misunderstood you. I was thinking you were talking about actually machining through the aluminum bed, but not I'm on the same page.

Derek,
Watched the videos, looks way simpler to build than the CK. Cant wait. Hope mine ships soon. Is there any recommended lube for the rack and pinion drive system? Not like grease , but like a Dry Lube so that any debris wont be stuck in the gears.

Hello. I'm an early backer and just received my Mega V 19x19 with Extruded Bed, it came in 3 boxes. The square box arrived first, the other 2 boxes came a day later. Here is a photo of the boxes and the content of them and everything is looking fine! Now I need to find some time to assemble this. I know many people are waiting for their Mega V, just hang in there.

Hey Y'all, Just received my Mega V 35x35 and I'm going through the assembly now. I just finished watch video #2 and a question popped into my head. How do you use the touch plate? Im a current Carve King owner using UGS and never dealt with a touch plate. Are there settings in UGS for the touch plate? Any insight on how this works or how I sent things up would be great. Thanks Brent

Congrats on getting the Mega V guys 👍 The touch plate is used with the probe function and is available in UGS.

Are there plans to add the Mega V to the feed rate calculators. Will they be comparable to a machine that is currently available on the app and web version?

My best advice is to use the Power Route and use a 35% shallower cut with a 25% faster feed rate that what is called for on the Power Route.

Looking for any documentation on the Mega V 4th axis as well as the controller. I have ordered the 4th axis and would like to start looking at my options. I was also looking for specifics on the controller as I am trying to find out if there is an option available for 0-10v output for spindle control.

gofer, there was some information in the kickstarter comments on the 4th axis capabilities. I don't know any specifics on the controller.

It catches debris, but if you clean it occasionally it is not a big deal.
