I'm not sure about selling now. I've been reading about motors and it seems like Nema 17 steppers should not be used on a belt-driven Z axis. They lack the torque needed to be effective long term.
I am considering building a bigger machine and using as much of the M3 parts as I can to maybe save a little money.

In that case, are the Nema motors plug-n-play? Can I buy I Nema 23 and just swap it out with the 17, or is there more to it?

I would have to do a bit of research, as I haven't done any in a while. I think you'd have to either change drivers or change the current. You'd do best by having a conversation with the provider you're planning on buying from. Note that the NEMA ## designations are not model numbers btw.
