I'm using an Amana 51402 endmill to rough aluminum and I have almost everything in spec with the manufacturer's recommendations except for depth of cut and I am wondering what limits the DOC on the power route plus?
Feedrate is ~57 in/min RPM ~20k Chipload is ~0.003 (low end of endmill spec) Spindle SFM ~1300ft/min (high end of spec is 1000) - to get it down to spec, I could slow to 15000 rpm but dewalt router gets bogged down and i've read it doesnt generate a lot of torque at the low end, so 20k+ has performed better. Is this true/why I can't run it slower? Optimal Load is 0.03 (radial) Depth of Cut is 0.0175 (axial) based on the conservative recommendation from millrightcnc.info feedrate calculator. Spec is 1x Tool Diameter so 0.25. If I go above 0.0175 (conservative estimate from calculator) endmill struggles
Is it heat that's the main problem? Is it torque? What modifications can i make to the machine to increase DOC? Mist+Airblast cooling? Upgrade the spindle?
Thanks
