Took a run at doing a Lithophane today. Didn't have a super small ballnose on hand but tried a 1/16" flat endmill just out of curiosity. Was pretty shocked by the results. Didn't think much of it till held up to a light source (this wasn't in a light box, just held up to a lamp) Anyone questioning the M3's resolution, It's pretty damn good! Ordered a 1/16" tapered ball nose that should amplify the detail, but I'm pretty satisfied for a first go at it.. 5"x5", cut from 1/2" PVC, one of my daughters engagement photos... No doubt need to build some light boxes.

Great Job Andrew. That looks like the sun setting in the lithophane with the light. What software did you use for this?
