Attachment DeletedTested some Corian today with some problems (mostly mine). First did a project to cut out some hold down clamps out of 1/4" corian. Made all the slot cuts - no problem. Got around the first bend of the rounded end and just stopped (seemed like the cnc did not have enough umph to make the turn while cutting). Altho I set the g92 work piece home - forgot how to re-home it to that position and don't think it would have mattered as UGCS was not able to respond. So I reset manually and tried again (did not care I'd be off course a tad as they are just clamps). Well it made the turn this time with some grunts and cut out 3 before the corian began to snap and break apart. This problem was because I did not and could not leave enough meat on the bones for good profile cuts while keeping the piece anchored down. You can also see I only had it anchored at 2 corners so when it broke in 2 - nothing was holding it down anymore (bad clamping). Will make the rest of the clamps the old fashioned way. In any event used a 2 flute 1/4 EM 45 deg helix running at about 4 on the router. The bit did not seem to have any problems going thru the corian...just the cnc when making those end turns - perhaps something is too loose. I did tighten up my ecentric spacers on the y travel as my bottom wheels were not spinning (making contact)-maybe that attributed to the stoppage (unsure). When corian is cut it leaves flakes ie plastic flakes.....lots of them. kind of messy. Seems to machine nicely but also seems extremely brittle. Used feeds of 50 IPM with a 2 pass process.
