Those look great! What is the translation of the first piece? I took four semesters of Japanese in college (Japanese shares an alphabet with Chinese), and my professors would be highly disappointed that I remember neither what it means or how to look it up.

It’s exquisite work. Thank you for sharing that. I’d love to show that off on social media if I could. With your permission…

I work with a gal from Shanghai. It is "Friend" in Chinese. And of course I used the color red for good luck, happiness and joy.

What kind of finishes did you use? Your blacks look nice and dark.

What kind of finishes did you use? Your blacks look nice and dark. John I've been using the Varathane wood stains by Rustoleum. The Kona color is a black stain but you can use it as an opaque paint too, just don't rub it off. I've been surprised how versatile these stains are. You can also buy these at Wal-Mart with the "Rustoleum Wood Stain" label. The clear coat is the Minwax Polycrylic water based product. Since it's cold outside now it's hard to spray lacquer. But I think I like lacquer a little more. It has a bit of a darker look to it compared to the water base stuff.
