Machine: Carve King

Ive been in the hobby of making fixed blade knives for a few years now, and really wanted to get into CNC for more consistent handle scales. Making something by hand is so time consuming and when looking at production runs, just not efficient. SOOOOO... I got a Carve KING! Right now its is in my shop in the box. I will start putting it together tomorrow after clearing out a spot for it to work. What is the Footprint of the Carve King? I am very familiar with 3D printing, as I use them in my classroom, been doing it for 3 years now. But I know nothing about CNC. I have watched some videos on YouTube by NYC CNC and other YouTube people. They make fusion 360 look easy!!! I watch the videos and make my notes, but when working independent.... Well I will admit I have much to learn. Anyone have any resources for cnc knife making? I will accept any and all help. My focus is on handle scale production. I grind my blades on my fancy Bader B3 knife grinder. I realize the carve king only does softer metals Merry Christmas to all, Adam Dunn

It's true that the Carve King should only be used on softer metals, but I think there are at least a couple of us who have accidentally milled a bit of our steel vises. I learned to pay MUCH closer attention to my toolpaths after that! Footprint-wise, it's a little over 2' x 2' for the main part of the machine, and you'll need somewhere to put your electronics enclosure (it's small, so you don't need much room for it).

Im so excited to have made contact with you, as you use the CNC to do what I am trying to figure out! Thanks for the share I am sure that I will learn much in 18. I have been wanting to make a friction folding, maybe even an assisted opening knife. Again... Great looking scales. Could you post a finished knife with CNC scales? Best,

Yep! I'll post the knife when it's done. Currently battling a flu and it's also FREZZING in the garage shop today, everytime I go out there to continue working I'm back inside within minutes. All I have left to do is cut out the backspacers, grind the blades, heat-treat, then finishing sanding.

Mark,
Love the folder. Looks great! Im still putting my machine together. Being a School teacher (8th grade) I spend my weekends working on knives and unfortunately grading work. I cant wait to get going on this.
Keep making them sharp things!
