So I have this DXF of the Marine Logo, I can import it into a few different programs...It also comes in .ai .cmx. svg .eps but there are so many vectors etc how do I actually get this thing to be sized to fit my 10x10 board and get it to cut? Also what does ~.dxf and =.dxf mean? I know it might be A LOT over my head at the moment but I am tired of the drag and drop ease of easel (way too simplistic to be fun). I can research tool paths and settings etc but when I import into Aspire it tells me there are too many vectors Attachments:marines.dxf (352.7 KB)

There aren't very many vectors in those files... like not many at all. I have no problem importing into Aspire, it take like half a second. How exactly are you trying to import them? After you do get it in Aspire you might not see it in your drawing pallet, push the F9 key on your keyboard and it will center things. F9 immediately after import, because all the vectors will be selected. Attachments:

I did manage to get into Aspire, but it says there are hundreds of vectors it ignores (around 609). I created a cube, 10x10x.75 ...imported the file. Resized to fit onto the top of the material. However I have never used cam/cad software ever so I really have no idea. I did try the shell address plaque tutorial, my tool paths etc seems the same as the tutorial but when I ran it the shell did not come out right and the address line went off on a diagonal line. Haven't tried it since. Would love some help if you have any time this weekend or next week.

I just picked up vcarve desktop last week. I've made many cams with fusion360, qcad, meshcam, and f engrave, but what I noticed was different with vcarve is that it likes closed vectors.
Anything I've imported or created with vcarve, I've had to select all of the vectors and click the button that checks for open vectors (can't remember the name of the button). Then there's another 3 or so buttons with options to close the vectors. Sometimes it won't be able to fix the open vectors for you and you have to close them manually. Still nice it shows exactly where the open vectors are.
But I'm pretty sure the vectors its skipping are the open vectors.

Mototech could very well be right on the open vector thing.. I didn't get any errors but those files you posted have a lot of open vectors (lines and not closed loops). What are you looking to do with it? Seems the ones you provided might be best suited for laser burning or something? The file is to big to attach here but try this one and see if you get similar errors, it's all closed vectors: www.dropbox.com/s/078bkfco77i7d1s/USMC_Shield.dxf?dl=0 Should work good for V-carving if that's what you're looking to do. I don't know Aspire very well, still learning.. Attachments:

Actually I like this one too. I just got it but work has kept me busy so I can't get into it yet. I just want to carve out a plaque in MDF until I get it working then make a nice one in another material. So for this would you recommend a V bit or flat rough then ball cleanup pass? (Once I figure out how to get it imported and sized etc correctly...)
