I do carving of several pockets from a 250mm x 60mm piece and then a 22mm hole and a 4.5mm slot in a 250mm x 50mm piece and then screw those together to make my LED sign bases.
I really like Baltic Birch plywood but it's a lot more expensive and hard to find. Would love to use HDPE or something similar but again, price. Any ideas?

Well I ordered one piece of the .5" 24" x 30" Baltic Birch plywood from Amazon and it's beautiful, but I went to order a few more pieces and they have raised the price to $27.54 total, up from the $15.98 total I paid just 9 days ago!
I found a local cabinet maker who says he'll sell me a 5' x5' piece of 5/8 Baltic Birch plywood for $30. I'm going next week to take a look. I'm skeptical that it's actually Baltic Birch and instead is just plain old Birch, which is not good for what I want to use it for.
BUT, if it's the superior Baltic Birch for $30 for a 5' x 5' then I will buy several, lest he raise his prices too!
FWIW, cherokeewood.com has decent prices, including shipping, if no one near you has the Baltic Birch plywood.

I buy some 5x5 birch from my sheet goods supplier and they are pretty decent. A cabinet shop can usually specify the grade they are ordering so you may want to ask your cabinet shop guy what it is.

I found a good price at Nashville Plywood, they sell a 5' x 5' .5" piece of Baltic Birch plywood for $21, and a 4' x 8' sheet for $30. It's a bit of a drive for me, but I found a cabinet shop 5 miles from my house that buys their wood from Nashville Plywood and they agreed to order me a sheet of it and I can pick it up 5 miles from here. THey tacked on $10 for a total of $40 for a 4' x 8' sheet but that's a steal compared to what I'd been paying. And unless my little sign business really takes off, that 4' x 8' sheet will last me a few months!

Iām glad you were able to work out something. The sheet goods from suppliers like that are much better than what you find in the big box stores.
