Hi, I finally got my M3 built and was testing my axis by jogging in UGS and had an issue i didn't see when i searched the forum. The X and Y axis moved both directions, but Z axis only moved up whether hitting Z+ or Z- jog buttons. Also when homing, it would seem to work at first, but instead of backing off after hitting the switch, it continued to move upwards past the switch. The switch wasn't the issue because if I triggered it manually ahead of time, the behavior of the z axis was the same. After searching i didn't find anything in the forum, but on another site (Inventables.com) someone had a similar issue with their X-Carve machine and it was their CNC shield that turned out to be the culprit. Now, I have been working in the electronics manufacturing industry since 1993 making circuit boards so i gave it a thorough visual inspection and sure enough i found a lead that did not get soldered during manufacture (see attached images). "Coincidentally" the lead was on the connector for the Z-stepper driver board. I soldered it, and when i hooked everything back up it worked perfectly. (Needless to say i did my happy dance I have also attached an image of my first cut (just the demo file, but i can't help being proud of it!).
