Machine: Carve King (Running on UGS) Has been running smoothly until this issue today.
Conditions: I've been cutting 1/4 inch MDF and things have gotten a bit hot (Texas) and dusty. I found a bit of dust had collected inside the Arduino case and vacuumed it out.
Issue: Some, but not all, of my jobs are ending with "Halted due to hard stop, suggest homing again" errors popping up with no end stops even close to being triggered. I also noticed that when I soft reset and then home the machine, the X axis isn't moving at all. When it retracts X/Y 4mm, both of them move in their negative directions as intended. It doesn't appear to be binding at all, as I can manually step it as much or little as needed and it zips right along.
Guess: Limit switch is bad (unlikely), or something is sending false signals or shorting the X limit switch.
Questions: Has this happened to anyone else? Can dust cause this? Or heat? Bad capacitor? I'll go check the impedance between NO and COMM on the cherry switch next.
Thanks!

My x did not do this but my z did. I isolated it by running it on the outside of the chain and haven’t had any problems since

Also, isolate your router 120v cord from the rest of your wiring to prevent this during your carving operation

The X stop wire is in the lower extrusion on its own, but the router cable is tucked in behind the machine next to everything else. I'll try to get it out of the way.

Ah. This might have something to do with it. My poor little cap has a broken leg. I'll get him stitched up and see how it goes.

Yup. Totally worked. Thanks for the tips guys! I've rerouted my x switch wires any router power cord while I was at it. Back to making a mess! Thanks!

The cap is standard with the limit switch kit. It filters electrical noise that can cause the exact problem seen here of erroneous limit switch signals.

Are the caps included with the homing switches in the Power Route, maybe are they built into the electronics, or are they not needed?

They are built into the electronics board on the Power Route.

A little blob of silicone under the caps can help support and provide some protection against the occasional light bump.

My machine seems to seems to have fixed itself! Maybe it was a temporary glitch or electrical interference issue?
