I received a text from Fed Ex stating my Power Route kit will be delivered today. I thought I would post a memorial for my current CNC machine.
I spent months in my garage carefully cutting out MDF, drilling and tapping superglue reinforced holes, cutting aluminum angle, making ACME thread backlash nuts from scratch, strange looks at Big 5 when I purchased skate bearings in bulk, and 3 old computer power supplies connected in series. My wife had no clue what I was building. I tried to explain, but she just looked at me with a blank stare, until one day 8 years ago or so I walked in with a huge grin and a freshly cut MDF heart. She understood, and I was hooked.
You have been a good machine, loyal (but temperamental) its time to say goodbye to your warped table, steel pipe and skate bearings. You will be remembered, but not missed to much.

That was a nice final tribute. You are going to really be impressed how much faster and more accurate the Power Route will be over that.

I'm always impressed with guys who build their own CNC from scratch. Congrats on your Power Route purchase.

I'm always impressed with guys who build their own CNC from scratch. Congrats on your Power Route purchase. I was looking at other DIY options like Joe's CNC, but the thought of sourcing all the individual components and milled aluminum parts was more time than I wanted to spend (not to mention that Joe seems to be vapor lately). Maybe my next machine if I need something bigger like 4'x4' or even 4'x8'.
