I finished assembly this morning, and sat down to start testing the M3 with UGS, per the instructions.
* Stepper drivers are set to .6v exactly, for all three
* Wires are connected the right way (Blue up for Y and Z and Red up for X)
* Arduino and driver are powered on
* Arduino is connected to PC (Windows 10) using the supplied cable
* Device Manager/Ports show COM3 as having the Arduino driver (I had to manually install the Arduino driver from the Arduino web site)
* COM3 serial port settings has the baud rate at 11520
* Possibly important? When everything is powered on, the X Y and Z axes can be easily moved by hand, indicating no power to the steppers. I would think that once the connection is made in UGS, these should be pretty much locked in position, waiting to be told to move, no?
* I rebooted, because Windows.
One thing - This is my first Windows 10 experience, so maybe it's just different, but in Windows 7, when you plug in a USB drive, it always gives you a little alert that the driver was successfully installed. I don't see that. Maybe it's just gone in 10? Device manager shows the driver as installed though.
In UGS, COM3 is selected, Firmware is GRBL, and baud is 11520. Connection light is green, and I get the initialization sequence in the UGS log, followed by an "OK" - everything seems to be working well.
Steps are set at 1mm, feed rate at 3000, as in the instructions.
When I click on any of the XYZ +/- buttons, the log shows the command was issued and there's an OK after each. The position indicators show a 1mm increment with each button press.
But the motors never move at all. Not even a sound from them.
Any ideas?
