I've got this fancy new 7W laser sitting in my shop, and I expect to have time to get it attached (as long as I'm not helping kids with calculus...), but the guide has me a little worried. Questions:
1. I know my PowerRoute doesn't have a hole pre-drilled, and I can't tell where to put it from the photo (I think it's too zoomed in). Where should I drill & tap a hole to mount the laser? 2. Do I need to build & flash new firmware for the controller? 3. What kind of materials should I be looking at for *cutting*? I need to make a few things out of plastic-like stuff, but I'm not sure if there are particular materials I should prefer or avoid. Any suggestions?
Thanks! -Kev

Hey
1) Drill and tap the right of the router mount (as you are looking at it from the front). 2) No, your firmware is fine. The board will have a port for the control signal with a white plug in. The other side will be bare wire. Put the red on a screw terminal labelled "Gnd" on the breakout board for the Power Route and the red wire to the "PWM" terminal. 3) ABS, acrylic, and similar are okay to cut. Do not cut PVC as it will release nasty gasses when hit with a laser.
