I'm new to this but having very good results from just the included 1/4" end mill and a V bit bought at HD. My issue is with expanding beyond this. I got ahead of myself and bought a nice set of 6mm bits and a 6mm collet. My issue is I need a nut for this Dewalt DWP611 router but still not sure if that will work. The original nut and collar are inseparable. Ordered a adapter for 1/4" and a couple of smaller bits but looking online, most of the cnc mills I'm finding are metric. What is your experience and advice with converting or buying bits. Are collet nuts for this size router universal?

I disagree that most end mills are metric. Most junk "spinning spoon" Chinese end mills will be metric, but most of the good stuff here in the US is standard.
The 1/4" dewalt collet will hold a 6mm shank though.
