Hi all... So I need some feedback please. I just got my Carve King, and have spent the last couple days carefully following the assembly instructions. I am currently at the motor setup, and have been moving like a current up until now. Problem halts progress... I opened up UGS, set the parameters to the directed 1, 1, and 3000. All of the motors move as desired, sans the Z Axis. No joy. I removed all power, waited the appropriate length of time, then swapped the Z and X to see if it's the motor. Again, no joy. Could it be the stepper driver? I think that if I go any further without any suggestions that I will fry everything and have to start all over... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

So you could move the X and Y axis but the Z axis does not move at all. You moved the Z motor to the X stepper driver but it still does not move? Does the X motor move on the Z Driver?
Check the voltage level on the stepper drive is at 0.65vdc and check the jumpers on the CNC shield board. Double check the GRBL settings match the list in the last page of the manual. Check the set screws on the motor couplers to be sure that they are grasping the motor shaft and lead screws.

Bruce hit the nail on the head on the diagnostics. Let us know about those items and we can go from there to get to the bottom of it.

So after your suggestions failed to fix Bruce, I replaced the stepper driver... Eureka! I have movement! Thankfully the packaging had 5 chips the box... It's like Millright knew...

lol. I found early on it doesn’t hurt to include a spare driver.
Congrats on the build.
