Hello. I’m making several parts on a carve king and I’m noticing that there are two vertical z axis machined lines of each piece I make.
Can anyone offer up what I’m doing wrong. The material is Delrin and I have a smoothing finish to 0.0002”
Thank you

If you can post a photo, it might help. We can only guess. My guess is that the router is not perfectly vertical, resulting in very slight differences in the cut position depending on the height of the Z axis. There are a number of ways to "tram" in a machine, there's a super cheap one as a sticky with a pencil and some bits of wood. Or you can go super accurate with dial indicators. It depends on your needs.

After you upload, there's an "Insert" button next to the file you uploaded. This is not the most user friendly forum software, but it gets the job done.

Don’t see any thing. I’m on an iPhone. Maybe that’s the problem.

Alternatively, try uploading to imgur.com and post the link here?

I saw the picture you emailed. It's most likely the way your CAM is chopping up the arcs combined with limitations on how fast grbl can process them. I've run into the same thing on different machines and different control systems. I'd suggest a couple things: First, have a look at some of the Fusion 360 information (if you are using Fusion) on smoothing and tolerance. You can also do some trial and error on the Grbl arc length tolerance. By default it's set to 0.002mm. In theory you can reduce it to get the motion closer to how the code is written. In practice, if its trying to process hundreds and hundreds of arcs quickly you may be better increasing this to say 0.01mm by typing $12=0.01 and enter in the command line. Here is a Fusion discussion on smoothing that might get you going: forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-computer-aided/tolerance-and-smoothing/td-p/8098393

_ I finally uploaded the picture. Thank you Derek for that link and explanation. Its always good to be learning something new about software and CNC machining. Thank you

Looking at the pic again it looks like you you might not be leading into it. Do you have lead ins and lead outs turn on?

lead in V and H are set to 0.025 in. Not sure which way to go + or - that figure??
