Having some difficulty with my Z homing switch. When using UGS I can't seem to get any read on switches plugged into the Z+ end stop pins on the CNC shield. Have tried plugging in switch mounted as the Z switch into the Y+ position on the board, and it's functional there (so it doesn't seem to be the switch or wiring).
Any ideas what might be making my Z+ on the CNC shield not work? Or just need a new board?
Edit: never mind, I have the laser and I see that the CNC shield configuration is set up slightly differently.

Plug it into SpEn and check it there. Do you have a laser?

Plugging into SpEn did the trick, thanks! Hadn't dug into the laser stuff yet, so hadn't seen that modification in those installation instructions.

I have a dumb question: How does one get the homing switches working and recognized by UGS? Is there a basic tutorial I missed? I have the laser, BTW.

The Carve King instructions explain how to set them up. What are you experiencing?

Nothing, actually. I set them up physically per the instructions, I just don't know where to go from here. Is there some enabling protocol I have to follow? I hit the homing button once in UGS and the machine immediately crashed and freaked me out so I haven't messed with it since. Now that the Christmas panic is over I wanted to tune things up nice, make an enclosure, and get the homing switches working.
Are they supposed to just work when wired?

When everything is wired properly they do just work. You can right click the place for you type in commands and select the option to show verbose output. You can then press each switch with your finger and see what it says in the text strings that are streaming across the window. If wired properly, you should see “Pn:z” at the end of the text string when you hit the Z switch, Pn:x when you hit the x, and Pn:y when you hit the Y. Let us know what you see when you do each one of those.
