Hello everyone, I officially purchased my MillRight CNC M3, which will be the first CNC machine I've ever owned. I also just purchased the Dewalt DWP611 along with the Bosch Colt spindle mount, but I am having a difficult time finding the right endmills. I am mostly looking to cut wood and aluminum, perhaps doing some carving as well. I do have a 3D printer which can supplement my CNC machine. Any advice is welcome and greatly appreciated! - Rob

I bought a starter kit from inventables to start and see what different ones look like and what they are good for. www.inventables.com/technologies/carving-bit-starter-set Lots of people here buy from an ebay seller named "drillman1" His prices are much cheaper than inventables. My problem though was being new to all this, I don't know much about endmills. drillman1's selection is so large and I had no idea what I was looking at or what was the right thing to buy.

Thank you!! I hope to learn a lot with this new hobby of mine. Also, thanks for your help! I would also like to know about the different types of end mills, and which are the correct ones to use on each material. I guess I need to do some more research of my own. If you know of any good reading material, please throw it my way. I need to get reading.

I was thinking of doing something like that as well, but at the same time I want to learn about the different end mills, what they are used for, and whatever else there is to know about them. Thanks for your help!! - Rob

So I ending opting for the Carving Bit Starter Set from inventables.com. Here is the link to the end mill set: www.inventables.com/technologies/carving-bit-starter-setI tried drillman1 on eBay, but his prices were about $10-$25 per bit + shipping. On the other hand, this set was $42 + about $7 shipping for 8 solid carbide bits, and they have a good amount of variety. I thought it was a no-brainer. Thanks, andrew, for the suggestion! I thought I'd post this here so anyone, like me, that is new to CNCing can have an easier time choosing a good set of end mills for a great price. Hope it helps! - Rob

Being new as well to this, I consulted the CNC oracle: my brother. He said when you're starting out to go for the 10 for $10 bits on Amazon for practice. I'll see what these bits are worth this weekend and report back.

I'm guessing we will be doing all kinds of things wrong either way while we learn, so might as well use the cheap bits until we learn the hard way. - Rob
